Staff Members

The CFSID is a volunteer-driven organization.

The national office staff provides volunteers across the country with support and expertise in the areas of volunteer recruitment, operations, administration and fund development.

Support includes development and dissemination of published and electronic educational material in the form of brochures, manuals and by posting information on our web site. We have published and distributed many important resources helping program delivery. These include a public education manual, a chapter/volunteer resource manual, a peer support manual and fundraising manuals.

At our national conference, we also provide support to Councils in the form of educational workshops. We have also published educational videos for the aboriginal community and an emergency response video.

The national office provides advice, written educational materials, and presentation materials, administration of financial records and tax receipts, financial support and assists in the coordination of our annual national conference and awareness campaign.

Support is provided from national office by way of teleconferencing, telephone conversations, and written correspondence and in meetings.

Our Vision

CFSID is dedicated to eliminating sudden and unexpected infant deaths and supporting bereaved families.

As part of our on-going corporate review process, our Foundation undertakes Vision Statement Reviews. In the past 10 years we have conducted two. These Reviews are conducted to ensure our Foundation is current with its objectives, Goals, mandate and the direction of the organization as voiced by its membership. The most recent Vision Statement Review included an overwhelming indication from the membership to expand the CFSID Mandate. Our membership's position was very consistent with that of the International SIDS organization (SIDI). Therefore, by means of empowering both the membership and Board of Directors, CFSID voted to adopt an expanded mandate. In October 2005, during our Baby's Breath Conference our members again reviewed this issue and approved a further expansion of our mandate. This change within our organization will strengthen our constituency and volunteer base by providing a broader scope of families requiring the unique services of CFSID.
