When the Bough Breaks
A 32 minute emotional support resource for families of babies who have died due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, featuring both actors and actual SIDS parents sensitively depicting the impact of a SIDS death on the immediate family as well as other relatives and friends. STEPS - Special Teen Education Project- SIDS
This 26 minute educational resource is intended for all Teens that are expecting an infant, have a child or for those that may be in the care of infants of a Teen Mom's such as babysitters, day care workers, foster parents, and grandparents. This video provides the STEPS to reducing the risk of SIDS. A guide is included with the video. Available for $35.00 (US$ outside Canada), which includes shipping and handling.


SIDS - Emergency Response
This 20 minute resource re-enacts an emergency response to a SIDS call, following the case from the parents' initial telephone request for help, through the emergency responders' efforts at resuscitation, arrival at the hospital emergency room, consultation with the hospital social worker, the preliminary police investigation and the final pronouncement of death due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. SIDS: Reducing the Risk in the Circle of Life( narrated by Graham Greene)
This 17 minute video promotes the risk reduction messages using strong visual images and key interviews with parents and Aboriginal health care profession als. For First Nations people, the creation of life is sacred, marking the beginning of a new journey. According to statistics, SIDS in the Aboriginal populaiton in Canada, is 3-10x greater than the national average. This video can be used in pre-natal education, with community groups or schools, or even on a continuous loop in a community health centre setting. The video is accompanied by a study guide, which can easily be used to lead discussion, or as handouts for members of the audience. SIDS: When Babies Leave the Circle ( narrated by Graham Greene)
The purpose of this 21 minute video is to ensure that parents do not blame themselves for the loss of their child, to provide further information about SIDS and to promote a healthy grieving process. Traditional teachings say that a child chooses you as their parent, because of what you can offer. Traditional teachings also say that the child can be the teacher, offering parents and the family the ability to grow and learn. Traditional people encourage grieving parents to talk, with Elders, with family, or friends. Through discussion and testimonial, this video looks at the grieving process and provides support within the context of traditional First Nations teachings. Sam's Story
- A resource for young SIDS siblings - free with $5.00 for shipping and handling (30 pages). Sam's Story and the accompanying Parent's Guide are intended to increase communication between parent and child, after the sudden death of their baby. The illustrations are designed to foster an understanding of the events surrounding the baby's death, and to promote family discussion about the birth and death of their baby and the resulting changes in family life. Written by Fiona Chin-Yee, a SIDS mother who lives in Nova Scotia and illustrated by Bill Johnson.
